Illegal Immigrant Nabbed For Shooting Neighbor Dead In Central PA: Police

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Steelton on Saturday, police announced Monday morning.

Francisco Hernandez-Hernandez, most recently of Steelton, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his neighbor 39-year-old Josue Saez, according to multiple releases by the Swatara Township police. 

Officers were called to the reported shooting at the apartments in the 300 block of North Harrisburg Street around 10:24 p.m. on Nov. 4.

Saez was found dead at the scene and a second man was also found with non-life-threatening injuries, he was then taken to a local hospital, according to the police. 

Josue Saez, known as ROC, worked as Correctional Sergeant at SCI Camp Hill for many years, according to those close to him.

Saez's community has been sharing its grief on share media, asking for prayers for his family.

Hernandez-Hernandez was arrested on Sunday on the following charges according to court documents:

  • Homicide murder of the first-degree.
  • Homicide criminal attempt - murder of the first-degree
  • Misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person.
  • Misdemeanor person not to possess or use a firearm - illegal alien.

He was denied bail during his preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Paul T. Zozos at 9:12 a.m. on Nov. 5, according got his court docket. 

On Monday, Nov. 6 his prison record was always flagged for "immigration naturalization."

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Kenneth A. Lenker at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 14.

The Swatara Township Detectives with the assistance of the Dauphin County Forensics Unit and the District Attorney's office are conducting the investigation.
